BL-Electronics Space Research

BL-Electronics was established in 1991. We maintain technological and development support for scientific institutes and laboratories developing equipment and instrumentation for their research. Our activity is oriented mainly for space research, but we have other projects as well.

Previous Projects

Design and manufacture of onboard computers (data collection and telemetry) for scientific research satellites in the Apex and Interball programs (5 satellites) in cooperation with the Russian Space Research Institute and Geophysical Institute of Czech Academy of Sciences.

Design and manufacture of telemetry interface module for the precision magnetometer used on the MAGION-5 Czech micro-satellite. The equipment measures the variation of the electromagnetic field of the Earth caused by the solar activity (magnetic stroms and other magnetic field variations). (Magnetometer produced by Max Planck Institute, Berlin.)

Development of the IESP2-M instrument for the study of the DC and ULF electromagnetic field on board of the INTERBALL Auroral Probe international scientific satellite. (Ordered by: Centre d’étude des Environnements Terrestre at Planetaries – CETP, France).


Running projects

Data processing hardware and onboard software development for the PILLE Thermo-luminescence Dosimeter as a subcontractor of the KFKI-AEKI (Institute of Nuclear Energy Research). The device measures the radioactive radiation dose in the 0.1 uSv …10 Sv range. Now it is used on the International Space Station (ISS) in the US and Russian segments and the commercial version at the Paks Nuclear Power Station in Hungary.

ISS-OBSTANOVKA project. Continuous monitoring of ULF VLF electromagnetic environment on board of ISS by an advanced SAS system (SAS3 ISS). This system measures, digitizes the incoming ULF-ELF-VLF signals in the 1 Hz  40 kHz frequency range (at the actual position of ISS) using high and low sampling rates. The experiment covers the following areas: Investigation of the possible relationship between the seismic activity and ULF VLF phenomena that may be related to earthquake events. Monitoring of natural and man made variations of the plasmasphere by whistlers. Investigation of electromagnetic background and space weather phenomena. Investigation of the effect of the large ISS structure to the propagating wave front. (Scientific leader: Eötvös University Space Research Group.)

Kompas-2 – Vulcan project. Development of satellite system for earthquake prediction (Vulcan series will have 16 satellites). The advanced SAS2 instrument is designed for the investigation of the relationship between earthquake precursors and special EM phenomena, and for the investigation af the plasmspheric ULF-ELF-VLF phenomena (whistlers and other electromagnetic signals, and the electromagnetic noise background). The main goal of these measurements is the investigation of seismic events, and besides this the research of the plasmasphere and the space weather effects, and of the propagation of large ULF-ELF-VLF wavefronts.
